This year, Randy Puckett will unveil a third sculpture to benefit whale research on Maui at the fourth annual Whale Quest Kapalua. This latest sculpture will feature a pair of humpbacks and will be entitled THE DANCE. As always, Randy will donate 50% of the cost of the sculpture during the event to Whale Quest Kapalua.
Randy has also extended a special offer to Whale Trust supporters and friends. If you purchase any of Randy’s sculptures, 25% will be taken off the purchase price, provided that a tax-deductible contribution of the same amount or more is made to Whale Trust.

National Geographic Expeditions auction a great success!
Congratulations to our lucky winner of this year’s auction to join National Geographic Expeditions and Flip Nicklin on a trip of a lifetime to photograph gray whales in Baja, California! This highly coveted luxury cruise ended up going for even more than the retail value of the trip, and we are grateful to the many bidders that helped to make this auction so successful. All profits will benefit Whale Quest Kapalua.
Whale Trust and Whale Quest Kapalua work with local students
In addition to our ongoing outreach into Maui’s schools, we have added an additional component to the education program for Whale Quest Kapalua 2009. Schools from Hawaii and Alaska have been working on a traveling mural project to be unveiled at Whale Quest Kapalua. Students have been studying whales during the fall and are each creating a canvas panel that will become a part of the mural. After being viewed at Whale Quest Kapalua the mural will travel to Alaska for display there.
During this project, the schools linked via a blog site on the Whale Trust website sharing questions, comments, insights and observations of their own. This has added another dimension to the project creating a deeper understanding and connection with the environment and whales and linking the two cultures connected by these migratory giants. Please visit us at Whale Quest Kapalua 2009 to see this beautiful mural.
