The event includes something for everyone, including free educational seminars, educational programs and activities for children, book signings with local marine mammal authors, benefit whale watches and more. Activities surrounding Whale Tales will kick-off with a Whale Trust charity golf tournament on January 28th at the King Kamehameha Club and conclude on February 10th with Lahaina Restoration Foundation at the Baldwin House in Lahaina.

This year's presenters include Dr. Bruce Mate, a pioneer in satellite tagging efforts of large and endangered whales; Craig Matkin, who specializes in the study of killer whales in Alaska; and Flip Nicklin, author of the best-selling new book, Among Giants: A Life with Whales. Ed Lyman from the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, Mark Ferrari of Center for Whale Studies, Dr. Jim Darling of Whale Trust and Dr. Dan Salden of Hawaii Whale Research Foundation will also be sharing some of their latest findings about social, behavior and conservation topics related to whales and their natural environment.

Originally called Whale Quest Kapalua, this annual event has raised over $200,000 for whale research on Maui since it began in 2006. Whale Trust shares the profits generated by the weekend's events with other local research organizations including Hawaii Whale Research Foundation and Center for Whale Studies.
