Whale Sound Gallery
Humpback whales make a wide variety of sounds, ranging from the remarkable and ever changing songs of male humpback whales to the shorter, more discrete sounds that both male and female whale make in social situations.
In this section, you can listen to a recent recording made by Whale Trust researchers of humpback whale song in Hawaii, to calls recorded in groups of humpback whales in feeding groups in Southeast Alaska, and of social sounds presumably made by males in surface-active or competitive groups on the breeding grounds.
